Muthupex 2006

Tuticorin has been a center for maritime trade pearl and fishery for many centuries. One among the major Ports of India, Tuticorin has produced many stalwarts in shipping industry. C.I.R. MACHADO is one of them. He started his career as a salt manufacturer and boat owner. He was actively involved in shipping trade and affectionately called “Kadalarasan” (meaning King of Seas). He was honored with the title “Knight of St. Gregory the Great” for his philanthropic deeds by His Holyness Pope Paul VI and thus popularly known as “Chevalier.” Department of Posts honor C.I.R. MACHADO for his association in Tuticorin shipping trade and relentless service for poor by releasing a special cover on the occasion of Muthupex 2006.
